Georgia and Connor's Douro valley wedding was one of those special weddings where you are made to feel more like a guest than a wedding vendor. I felt so welcomed by Georgia and Connor's families that it was an absolute pleasure to photograph their day and I feel I've gained two friends for life. Here's to hoping they'll be moving to Portugal soon!
When Georgia first contacted me they didn't have a date set yet, they just knew they had found their dream wedding venue and were excited to move forward with the planning. I could feel Georgia's excitement even from those first messages. I learnt that Connor went above and beyond to achieve the perfect engagement proposal - just imagine the following: Cannes fireworks festival, a boat, a sunset and a custom made ring - so the wedding was surely going to be something special!
Their dream wedding venue turned out to be one of my favourites as well, the Rural Hotel Casa dos Viscondes da Várzea in the beautiful region of the Douro valley, just 120km away from Porto.
Since it functions as a hotel, Casa dos Viscondes da Várzea can easily accommodate the guests of an intimate wedding. This was also the case for Georgia and Connor's destination wedding where their guests from the UK were able to enjoy a few sunny days in the beautiful Douro valley and celebrate Mr. & Mrs. Franks at the same time! This is also why I wanted to arrive a bit earlier to the venue so I could capture a few candid shots with their guests having a nice time by the pool while Georgia and Connor were getting ready for their outdoor ceremony which was set for later in the afternoon.
This is definitely one of my favourite weddings I ever photographed and if I had to choose just a few - out of the many - of my favourite moments, I would have to mention the emotional first look Georgia had with her father, the moment Connor read the surprise letter he had received from his soon to be wife and the moment he saw her walking down the aisle, our sunset photo session and of course, the speeches! :)
