Where do I even begin with Sara and Vincent's story? They are such a fun, creative couple and I absolutely loved photographing their unique wedding and the day after session!
This is a couple who is very much into cosplay, with Sara being a special effects make-up artist and overall creative soul. With Vincent proposing to Sara at Dinseyworld and them choosing the Enchanted Forest as the theme for their wedding makes it natural to imagine that they had big plans for their wedding day!
As such, Sara and Vincent took on a lot of DIY projects like: fairytale inspired centerpieces individually handcrafted and designed by them (including a dragon releasing smoke from its nostrils!), a medieval door for the photobooth backdrop, a handmade book and other decoration pieces for the tables. I think I should dedicate an entire post just for these pieces alone. And of course, Sara did her own hair and make-up and she looked just as a princess from a fairytale book.
They chose Casa da Lavand'eira as their venue and it was the perfect setting for their fairytale wedding. Located in the Douro Valley region just 80km away from Porto, Casa da Lavandeira features a charming manor house dating from early 19th century with 14 hectars of terrain where you can find vineyards, a small river, plenty of oak trees, mills and traditional dwellings.
Since we knew from the beginning that there won't be any time for having a portrait session during the day, we decided to have a day after session in which we could take our time and explore all that Casa da Lavandeira had to offer. We also used coloured smoke bombs to achieve an even more magical look. Sara did the entire session which involved lots of walking and climbing, with no shoes, just her socks!
Sara and Vincent were such a fun couple and I feel so lucky I got the chance to know them and photograph their original wedding! Have a look below to see exactly what I mean!
