URBAN ENGAGEMENT SESSION

IN PORTO

GENINHA & ALEXANDRE

Geninha and Alexandre’s engagement session took place just two days before their destination wedding in Porto and it was one of the most fun photo sessions yet!

Since Geninha had arrived to Portugal more than a month before Alexandre did, I think it was a great decision to have an engagement session done, not just for them to get used to being photographed by me, but for slowing down and enjoying being together after not having seen each other for a long time. For most couples there rarely is a quiet moment right before the wedding happens, especially when it comes to a destination wedding that had mostly been planned from abroad. Therefore, this little exploration of ours provided a great opportunity to take a break from all the last minute wedding preparations and to simply enjoy being with each other. Almost from the beginning, our session started to feel more like a casual meeting amongst friends where I was taking photos of Geninha and Alexandre in some of our favourite places in the city.

For the end of our session I thought it would be nice to cross the Luís I bridge and have Porto as the background during the sunset, but little did we know that Alexandre’s family, who had arrived from Brazil just a few hours before, had had the same idea! It was a very nice surprise for everybody to meet in such an unexpected way and I was glad I could capture their reactions as they stumbled upon each other!

Looking back to that day, I realise how everything seemed so natural, even though we hadn’t known each other for long while being in a country different than our own and speaking different languages! Our connection and affinity was strong from the start, and I am truly happy to consider Geninha and Alexandre not just great clients, but friends as well. :)
